Mixing 'Trust Issues'
For this track I contacted Drew Dutoit, a member of Coalescent Duo, who asked me to do a mix of one of his tracks that he wanted to release but wasn't keen on the mix he had done of it. He said he wanted a second mix to compare to his to get some ideas. He said he would release my mix on his album as an alternative to the song which would be a great opportunity for me.
The track they he sent me was an indie/pop track which had a synthesizer part and some nice guitar riffs. This is not what I expected as the duo are grime artists, but they explained it was an old track which never got finished.

Overall I feel the experience mixing someone else's track was strange but insightful. It is interesting to see what other people do when they make music and to see what habits they fall into. I tried not to use a reference track for this song as I wanted to see what I could come up with on my own and I'm glad I did because I feel the results are perfect. I have not yet sent the track back to my client but will be doing so soon to see what he feels about my work.
